Use their names frequently every time you handle them, pet them or simply visit them. It may take awhile before they un-learn to associate their names with food, but it should happen with a little patience. Meanwhile, wait til they approach you before putting your hand into their cage so they know it’s you.
Rats learn their names quickly but it helps if they don’t have names that rhyme or sound too much alike. Our 6 rats definately know their individual names but often remind me of our cats b/c if I call 1 by name another may approach more slowly just to see what’s up (in case food is involved).
